In July 2024, a measurement campaign was conducted with the SWUF-3D fleet in the WiValdi research wind farm in Krummendeich. The wind farm is equipped with a high number of meteorological sensors, e.g. lidars, microwave radiometers and met masts equipped with ultrasonic and cup anemometers. More than 70 flights were carried out performing in-situ measurements of the turbulent wind field with up to 11 UAS of two different types simultaneously.
The measurements were performed up to 210 m height above ground with different flight patterns close to the metmast array to sample the turbulence in the ABL flows. Furthermore, dedicated wake measurements at one of the research wind turbines were conducted in this campaign. Flight pattern with a horizontal range up to 250 m were carried out to measure longitudinal and lateral coherence.
